Halloween Science Skills Activity Bundle

Use this Halloween science skills activity bundle to have FUN for Halloween while reinforcing science skills that students need to practice all year long! The theme of the holiday is a base to review graphing skills, practice making claims from evidence in data, and reviewing experimental design.

There are THREE activities included, each reviewing a different science skill:

1. Halloween Graphing Practice: Practice simple graphing skills! Students are given holiday-related data and use it to create 2 line graphs, 2 bar graphs, and 2 pie charts. Graph topics include:

• Favorite candies
• Sugar in different pumpkin foods
• World-record pumpkin growth
• Plus more!

2. Halloween Scientific Method Review: Students review “If…Then” hypotheses, identify independent and dependent variables, and practice experimental design – all with fun Halloween themes.

3. Halloween CER & Data Analysis Practice: Get kids looking at Halloween-related data to practice both data analysis and making claims from evidence. Students will read a brief passage about a real-world science scenario, analyze a simple data table, and make a CLAIM based on EVIDENCE. Students do not have to make a claim “out of nowhere.” They are asked a pointed question that they answer in the CER format. This covers science-based holiday themes such as:

• Black cats (melanin affects immune function in cats)
• Zombies (zombie caterpillars protect wasp larvae)
• Bats (echolocation frequency depends on prey)
• Plus lots more!
