Paper DNA Model Project

Each student creates their own paper DNA model, then combine their models end-to-end to make one long class model!

How this activity works:

  1. Step 1 – Students color the bases, phosphates, and sugar according to the key.
  2. Step 2 – Cut out the individual shapes.
  3. Step 3 – Assemble the DNA model like a puzzle.
  4. Step 4 – Glue to a paper.

Teacher Notes:

  • There’s just 2 pages to print – the directions and the pieces to cut. Because of the number of shapes to cut, it’s helpful to have pairs of students complete one model.
  • Save time! We also include a version that does not require student coloring.
  • Please note: This paper DNA model is NOT editable.
