  1. Introductory Text with Questions: Students READ a 2-page informational text about the distribution of natural resources and RESPOND to analysis questions. No prior knowledge is required – all information is in the text.
  2. Distribution of Natural Resources Webquest: FIVE PART WEBQUEST focusing on natural resources and human impact – each section with its own website to explore. This activity is much more interesting and engaging than typical “fill in the blank” webquests!
  3. Graphing Natural Resources Worksheet: Students practice their graphing skills with data about land use (line graph), groundwater depletion (line graph), distribution of oil (pie chart), and top copper-producing countries (bar graph).
  4. Distribution of Natural Resources Claims & Evidence Activity: Students read passages and analyze maps to be able to make claims to answer the following questions: What is the relationship between volcanoes and copper deposits?, Why does the Midwest area of the United States have fertile soil?, Why do Venezuela and Saudi Arabia have lots of oil reservoirs?
  5. Natural Resources Maps and Graphs Stations Activity: Get kids up an moving with 10 COMPREHENSIVE DATA ANALYSIS STATIONS. Students analyze natural resource MAPS and GRAPHS to learn more about their distribution, use, risk of depletion, and human impact on the environment.
  6. Natural Resource Research Project: Students research one natural resource including its characteristics, use, distribution, and harvest. Includes step-by-step instructions, a “Research Organizer” to help students organize their information and focus their thinking, and a student-friendly grading rubric.
