Students read a renewable energy reading that explains how different types of renewable energy can be used to generate electricity instead of burning fossil fuels.

In this activity, students will:

  • READ a 3-page article about different renewable energy sources. Students will learn the basics of each system, how energy is transformed from one form to another in each, and how much energy they produce worldwide.
  • ANSWER text-dependent questions that come directly from the article. (No prior knowledge required!)

Topics Covered:

  • Benefits of using renewable energy over fossil fuels
  • Solar energy
  • Wind energy
  • Hydroelectric power
  • Biomass energy
