Newton’s 1st Law Activity: Inertia Stations

Get this Newton’s 1st Law Activity at a discount in our Newton’s Laws Unit!

EASY PREP Newton’s First Law lab stations with EASY materials! Students play with common supplies to experience one of Newton’s Laws of Motion firsthand. Easy and engaging!

In this activity, students will:

  • MOVE THROUGH 7 SIMPLE STATIONS. The station cards lead them independently through 7 very simple activities. Each activity demonstrates Newton’s 1st law in a different way.
  • COMPLETE THE STUDENT SHEET. As they visit each station, they complete a student sheet with analysis questions.

An alternative to stations is also provided – all the instructions for all 7 stations on one printed page.

Supply List: small box, marble, Lego person, small cart, toy car, pennies, books, beaker or cup, index card, glass flask or bottle, hoop, metal nuts or popcorn kernels

Many of these supplies can easily be substituted for something similar. And, there’s enough content here that if you need to skip a station or two due to supplies, the students still will have a solid hands-on experience with Newton’s 1st Law with the remaining stations.
