Stars WebQuest

This fun STARS webquest activity introduces students to stars, the different types of stars, their life cycle, the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram, and more!

Includes BOTH print and digital Google Slides options to assign!

This webquest has 7 parts, each with their own website*:

  • Part One: Learn the basics of what a star is, how temperature determines star color, the life cycle of different-sized stars, and more. Great introduction to stars!
  • Part Two: Use an interactive website to zoom through the stars in the Milky Way and click to learn more about each.
  • Part Three: This site goes a little more in-depth about 8 different famous stars and nebulae.
  • Part Four: Watch a quick video to illustrate how temperature influences star color.
  • Part Five: Learn about and use a Hertzsprung-Russell diagram.
  • Part Six: Students plug in their location to view and analyze the night sky in their city on the day of the activity!
  • Part Seven: Learn how constellations are cultural and view the constellations imagined by 28 different cultures, from Hawaii to Egypt to Norse mythology.

* Because each part of the WebQuest uses different links, the whole activity isn’t ruined if one website is unexpectedly down.
