Middle School Energy Test

This middle school energy test gets kids THINKING!

Includes a bonus test review worksheet!

Topics include:

  • Forms of energy
  • Potential & kinetic energy
  • Energy transformations
  • Mass or speed versus kinetic energy

There are diagrams and simple charts to analyze, and the questions mimic how standardized tests generally ask about this topic. This middle school test includes 25 multiple-choice questions (many with diagram analysis) and 3 open response questions.

Less copies and easy to correct – save time with our test packet format! The test is 6 pages long (3 front/back) with an additional 2-sided answer sheet. You only have to make one class set of test question packets and then reuse them from class to class, as it is only necessary for the students to write on their answer sheet.

Related Standards:

  • NGSS MS-PS3-1: Construct and interpret graphical displays of data to describe the relationships of kinetic energy to the mass and speed of an object.
  • NGSS MS-PS3-2: Develop a model to describe that when the arrangement of objects interacting at a distance changes, different amounts of potential energy are stored in the system.
  • NGSS MS-PS3-5: Construct, use, and present arguments to support the claim that when the kinetic energy of an object changes, energy is transferred to or from the object.
