Engaging!  This fungus reading lets students get to know FUNGI better in a high-interest way while targeting MS-LS2-2 and MS-LS2-3 of ecosystems/ecology or classification of living things units.

Includes both PRINT and GOOGLE SLIDES versions!

In this activity, students will:

  • READ “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” which highlights how fungi are beneficial (medicines, decomposers, etc.), harmful (diseases, etc.), and how varied they can look.
  • ORGANIZE information from the text in a simple table.
  • COMPLETE a claims/evidence/reasoning section to finish the statement “The most important use of fungi is…”.
  • ANSWER several text-dependent questions.

Amazing, high-quality, real-world applications. I love the station set up to get students moving around and collaborating with each other.
