Fossil Record Test

⭐ Get this fossil record test at a HUGE DISCOUNT in my Geologic Time & Fossils Unit! ⭐

Middle school level fossil exam covering:

  • Earth’s history
  • The fossil record
  • Very basics of geologic time
  • Rock strata
  • Law of superposition

This test includes 18 multiple-choice questions, many of which have simple diagrams for analysis. There are also two open-response questions that focus on the Law of Superposition. This test covers an OVERVIEW of these topics – NOT the nitty-gritty detail of era names or specific organisms that lived in each era. Students do NOT need to know exactly how fossils form or be able to recognize specific fossils. The focus of this test is on the Law of Superposition, and that Earth’s life forms and climate have changed over time, as outlined in Next Generation Science Standard MS-LS4-1.

Easy to correct and less copies to make – save time with our assessment packet format! The test is 4 pages long (2 front/back) with an additional 2-sided answer sheet. You only have to make one class set of test question packets and then reuse them class to class, as it is only necessary for the students to write on their answer sheet.
