Get this seasons misconceptions activity in my complete SEASONS UNIT

Students often have a misconception that summer has something to do with the Earth being closer to the Sun. This worksheet activity helps BUST THAT MYTH!

Includes GOOGLE SLIDES and PRINT versions!

In this activity, students will:

  • GRAPH the distance between the sun and Earth for 12 months of the year.
  • ANSWER follow-up analysis questions, including a CER.
  • CONCLUDE that in the Northern Hemisphere we are NOT closer to the sun in summer!

This myth-busting activity would only be effective in the Northern Hemisphere, where kids associate winter with December, January, and February!
