Hurricanes Reading Passage & Worksheet

In this introductory hurricanes reading passage, students learn about how hurricanes form, how they are categorized, the damage they cause, and how communities can reduce their impact through mitigation strategies.

In this activity, students will:

  • READ a 2-page text passage about hurricanes, including how they form, how they are measured, and how communities prepare for and respond to them.
  • ANSWER text-dependent questions. The worksheet also includes graphic organizer-type sections for students to summarize what they have learned. No prior knowledge is required – all information comes directly from the text.
