HOW IT WORKS: Students visit 10 stations. At each, students will:

  • READ a brief passage on each station card. The station card describes a real world, interesting example of a scenario within an ecosystem. Each station card also includes either a simple graph or a simple data table related to the information.
  • Answer a given question to make a CLAIM based on EVIDENCE. Students use the information in the brief text and the graph or data table to make their claim. Students do not have to make a claim “out of nowhere.” They are asked a pointed question that they answer in the CER format.

10 Stations Cover the Following Topics:

  • The effect of resource availability on populations (NGSS MS-LS2-1)
  • Patterns across multiple ecosystems (NGSS MS-LS2-2)
  • Changes to physical or biological components of ecosystems affect populations (NGSS-MS-LS2-4)
