- “Density Creates Currents” Article and Questions*: Students read an article about how density creates currents in various situations, such as ocean currents, weather, plate tectonics, and currents in heating homes. Then, students answer text-dependent follow-up questions.
- Convection Worksheet*: This straightforward convection currents worksheet has two diagrams to analyze. Students will answer questions about convection currents in liquids and gases based on the diagrams.
- Modeling Convection Hands-On Activity: This convection activity can be used as a teacher demo or a hands-on student activity. It effectively demonstrates a convection current using very easy supplies.
- Convection in the Mantle Coloring Page: This is not your average coloring sheet! Students will color a diagram of convection in the mantle based on instructions in the document, but then also answer analysis questions about what the diagram is showing. It’s much more rigorous than a coloring sheet.
- Hot Air Balloon Text & Questions (FREE BONUS)*: Students read a brief text about how convection works in a hot air balloon and then answer text-dependent questions. Great as homework!
