Women in STEM Reading & Questions: Rosalind Franklin: In this activity, students will:

  • READ about Rosalind Franklin’s contributions to the discovery of the structure of DNA.
  • ANSWER text-dependent questions.

Dr. Jane Wright Biography & Questions: FREE BONUS! Reviews the scientific method! In this activity, students will:

  • READ a biography about the life and scientific accomplishments of Dr. Wright, chemotherapy pioneer.
  • ANSWER text-dependent questions focusing primarily on the major steps of the scientific method viewed through Dr. Wright’s work.

Olga González-Sanabria Biography & Worksheet: In this activity, students will:

  • READ a 2-page article about the life and accomplishments of Olga González-Sanabria, best known for inventing the batteries used on the International Space Station.
  • ANSWER 14 text-dependent questions.

Women Scientists of Yesterday and Today WEBQUEST: Students use the internet to research 12 significant historical female scientists as well as 4 lesser-known female scientists that are active in their fields today. Students find information about:

  • Year and place of scientist’s birth
  • Colleges attended
  • Scientific accomplishments
  • Other interesting facts

Women in the Sciences TIMELINE PROJECT: EASY TO PRINT AND GO everything you need is included for students to assemble an Achievements of Female Scientists timeline or bulletin board. Two versions are provided – Version One requires students to research 35 scientists (names and important dates given) and Version Two gives them 35 pre-made biography cards. A variety of scientists from around the world are included with dates ranging from 1200 BCE through today.
